3 easy things you can do to keep your ears healthy!
I tend to be proactive when it comes to my health and well being. If there’s anything I can do to lead a healthier life, I’m all in.
It may come as a surprise to you, but, there are steps you can take for better ear health.
Number one is exercise. Exercise promotes good ear health as it allows for improved blood flow. The organ of hearing requires a rich blood supply. If you’re doing nothing, start doing something. I tell my patients to take that first cup of coffee in the morning and go for a walk. Moving your body is the best thing you can do. Make time for it. Pencil it in.
Number two is to eat a balanced and healthy diet. We’ve all been told that white sugar, fatty foods, and too much red meat can be detrimental to good health. On the upside, fruits and vegetables are filled with good nutrients and vitamins. We all know what we should be eating. Start making better choices.
Third, protect your ears from loud sounds. If you use power tools, mow your lawn, own a leaf blower, ride a motorcycle, listen to live music, attend live sporting events or play an instrument, please start using proper ear protection. An audiologist can help you make the right choice. And, as a side note, listening to loud sounds along with smoking increases your risk for damage to your ears.
Taking better care of of our bodies has a greater impact than we realize. Your ears deserve that special care and attention as well.
