Did you know that May is nationally recognized as Better Hearing Month?
Marking the occasion is important for raising awareness about the growing prevalence of hearing loss and the importance of treatment.
It’s so important, in fact, that on May 3, 2021, our own Dr. Sheri Gostomelsky teamed up with Deerfield Mayor Harriet Rosenthal to designate May as Better Hearing Month in the village of Deerfield.

The proclamation recognizes important hearing health matters such as:
- One in five families is affected by communication disorders
- More than half of the people with hearing loss are younger than age 65
- Hearing loss is the third most common health problem in the United States
