The Importance of Regular Hearing Tests
Hearing loss develops gradually over a long period of time, so it can be difficult to detect hearing loss until it starts to impact your daily life. That’s why it’s recommended to get a hearing test at age 50 to ensure hearing loss is diagnosed early.
Hearing tests are really the only way to measure the severity of hearing loss, and the test results help us put together a hearing care plan that will thoroughly address your needs.

We take pride in providing accurate and timely hearing tests to our patients, and we spend 90 minutes to two hours with every new patient we see. That way, we can understand your entire situation and put your hearing difficulties into perspective.
If you’ve never had a hearing test before, you may be wondering what the process looks like. At Audiology Associates of Deerfield, we follow a four-step process for all new patients from initial meeting to executing a thorough hearing care plan.
Step One: Getting to Know You
Step Two: The Exam
In the same way that your primary care physician conducts a physical examination at your annual checkups, our audiologists will take a look inside your ear to identify physical signs that could be causing hearing loss, like an obstruction or damage to the ear. Ear wax will be removed if necessary.
Step Three: Hearing Tests
There are several components to a hearing test. These can include listening for soft sounds, finding levels of sound to establish comfort and discomfort, and determining how well you understand speech, both in quiet and in noise. Additional tests will be performed only if medically necessary.
Once the tests are compete, our software will generate an audiogram, which we use to understand the type, degree, and configuration of your hearing loss and create a treatment plan that addresses your specific case.
